With piercing eyes, he stared into the darkness. Something had his mind and nerves in a turmoil that he could not explain. It was a feeling he had to have an answer. This was not the way to live a life. Surely, there was more to it than living on the edge. There had to be a comfort zone, a place where there was peace, joy, and something to make people remember when this life was over.
The water, or should I say the wind, moved the water up to the shore laping softly and making a peaceful sound. What could cause nature to be moved so easily? How could the wind have so much force and still be in control? Where was the hand that could do these things, and not be seen? Was this what I was feeling out there - yet invisible to the naked eye? What was He telling me? Why could I not be content to stand in the place where I was, and not want to be moved?
Life can be complicated! That is, if we let it. That hand that makes the wind to obey His voice and go where it is told, wants the same control in our lives today. When we feel the uncomfortable feeling in our life, there is something out there that is giving us trouble. There is something that we need to get an answer for. We need to search the scriptures to find our answers. We need to let God have control of our thoughts, our beings, and not rely on pleasures of this world to give us something that is only going to last for a season. If God isn't in control - the peace which we seek isn't going to last very long.
It was what he could not see that was causing the darkness to invade his thoughts. It was the feeling of restlessness that was making him wonder where he was suppose to be next. It was a HUNGER that made him to realize there was more in this life than what he had. What was he suppose to do? How was he suppose to get the answers?
Our answers come from God. He is the ONLY answer. The problem solver from the beginning to the end. But just as a garden that was full of weeds, until the gardner came and used his tools to remove them, we have to have help. God is not coming to blast us to the next planet to show us what He can do. He said for us to come humbly before Him (Micah 6:8) and then He can do a work in our lives.
Then there is the Potters Wheel, if we will be humble, we can be made into what He wants us to be. To be molded into His likeness. To be able to walk where He would have us to walk. To follow after the leading of His Spirit. And listen to His voice to lead us. He said, MY SHEEP KNOW MY VOICE and another they WILL NOT FOLLOW (John 10:4-5).
